The @ctilburymakeup Hollywood Flawless Filter ($44 for 1 ounce – https://rstyle.me/+tyHeMsnOIG1Mu11FXeCpeQ) had been on my wish list for years, so, during a @sephora sale, I finally took the plunge and picked it up so that I could see if it was as good for me as so many people say it is for them!
What it claims:
🔘 A customizable complexion booster that can be used as a primer, highlighter, or can be mixed with your foundation to get a perfected dewy finish or glow
🔘 Inspired by the perfecting lens of social media filters, ingredients help to soften focus, illuminate skin, and make lines and pores appear smoother
🔘 Formulated without parabens, sulfates, or phthalates
My experience:
🔘 It comes in seven (7) shades and I purchased the second lightest, 2 Light (described as a “neutral peachy beige for fair skin”), and I think it works perfectly for my skintone.
🔘 I have used this under foundation, mixed with foundation, on top of foundation and in lieu of foundation.
👍🏻 I experienced no issues with any of the application methods I attempted.
👍🏻 I really like the applicator. A little bit of this product goes a long way and the doe foot keeps me from applying too much.
👎🏻 When using it under and mixed in with foundations, I don’t notice much of a difference in the way my skin looks.
👍🏻👎🏻 When using it on top of foundation, it gives me a very natural, subtle glow and for the days I want that, it’s perfect. If I want to amp up my highlighter on more full glam days, I’ll use this on top of foundation, but underneath a powder highlight.
👍🏻 I like using this most on no makeup days. It makes my skin look hydrated and naturally glowy.
My verdict?
This product has hundreds of five-star reviews. Unpopular opinion alert, but I just don’t understand why. Is this a terrible product? Not by any stretch of the imagination. However, I just haven’t really been able to find a place in my makeup routine for it. I’ll use it up (although, based on the packaging, there’s a chance I’ll never be able to get all of the product out), but won’t be repurchasing.
