My preferred method of makeup application is a damp beauty sponge, but I do know that it commonly reduces the amount of coverage I am able to get out of a product. So, when I saw excellent reviews for the @thejunoco Microfiber Lavender Velvet Sponge ($5.99 – https://shopstyle.it/l/bjlyC), saying that it greatly improves upon that issue, I knew I had to test it out!
What it claims:
🔘 It’s a makeup blender and brush hybrid thanks to the microscopic microfiber hairs that provide the perfect wet or dry application
🔘 Enjoy a seamless natural, airbrush finish
🔘 Made with velvety-soft microfiber bristles and a slanted tip for controlled stippling to provide buildable coverage, fast
🔘 Saves you up to 50% more makeup product than the leading makeup sponge material
👍🏻 I have used this both damp and dry and, while I slightly prefer the blend out process with the damp sponge, both worked really well and left me with a similar result.
👍🏻 I tested the same foundation on back to back days, using a standard sponge on the first day and this sponge on the second. I used about half as much product with this sponge and got even slightly higher coverage in comparison to the standard.
👍🏻👎🏻 The texture is different than I’m used to. I am used to something feeling damp after I wet and wring it out, but this doesn’t feel damp. For that reason, it takes a little bit more time to blend out foundations because it isn’t sheering it out and adding a ton of moisture.
👍🏻 It gives my skin a more airbrushed finish.
👍🏻 I have used it to apply foundation, concealer, contour, bronzer and blush (all creams) and it worked beautifully for all of them.
I’m using half as much product, getting more coverage and spending less because this sponge is super affordable? Sign me up for that! While the texture is something I need to get used to because it’s different from the sponges I normally use, it’s a small price to pay for all the benefits! If you have been looking to try a sponge for the first time or adding another to your collection, I highly recommend this!
