When a primer that has 835 nearly 5-star reviews goes on deep discount for Black Friday, you know I’m going to snatch it up to review! Today, I am testing the @lancomeofficial La Base Pro Perfecting Make-Up Primer ($42 for .8 ounces at @macys – https://shopstyle.it/l/bcfwB).
What it claims:
🔘 This amazing oil-free makeup base creates a smooth, radiant and long-lasting canvas for a more perfected makeup look
🔘 Exclusive Lancôme Elasto-Smooth™ technology refines skin’s texture and diffuses light to visibly reduce imperfections with a satin-soft finish
🔘 Makeup glides on seamlessly
🔘 Color stays more true and vibrant for a radiant, air-brushed look all day
👍🏻 Recently, I have been using gripping and/or thick, pore-filling primers, so the super smooth texture of this primer felt a bit foreign to me. However, after applying it all over my face, I was very impressed with how even and blurred my skin texture appeared.
🔘 Both days I’ve used this, I tested it with my favorite foundation because I wanted to give it the best chance of success.
👍🏻 My foundation went on a bit more matte than normal, but that didn’t keep it from still blending out beautifully.
👍🏻 After all of my products had been applied, examining my skin up close, I was super impressed by how smooth it all looked – it even appeared to fill in a few of my wrinkles.
👍🏻👎🏻 Going forward, I’ll likely use this in conjunction with a pore-filling primer because it didn’t do a great job of that.
👍🏻 I didn’t have to blot until over twelve (12) hours into wear and, even then, it wasn’t bad.
I’m torn. While my skin does look beautiful, there are other primers I’ve experienced a similar look with and they were much less expensive. However, this has probably done it best. Plus, my makeup does seem to look flawless for longer. I will absolutely enjoy using this up and may repurchase, but probably only if it goes on sale again.
