Don’t get me wrong, I’ve tried. I just can’t, on a daily basis, use a brush to apply my foundation. Normally, no matter what I do, I won’t get nearly the same flawless blend that I do with a sponge. So, when I see a YouTuber I trust, @glamlifeguru, rave about a new take on the beauty sponge, I take notice and order almost immediately. I have been testing the @thesupersponge out for a couple of weeks and below are my thoughts!
What it claims:
🔘 Coating infuses with the sponge, adhering to all of the micro-pores and enhancing the texture
🔘 Coated technology keeps product on the surface and prevents it from seeping deep within
🔘 Silicone coating scrubs clean with soap while preventing germs from penetrating deep into the sponge
👍🏻 As someone who has tried many, many “normal” sponges and a couple of silicone sponges, I was impressed by the unique texture of this. It really felt as though it married both products together.
👍🏻 Since I am so used to the product-sucking nature of a traditional beauty sponge, it took me a while to get used to the amount of foundation and concealer I needed to use with this (if you need proof of that, just watch my video from Tuesday, May 7th). That being said, I am happy it takes less to achieve the same amount of coverage.
👎🏻 I have yet to find a real use for the butt end of the sponge – the part that feels “normal.” I used it thinking it would help blend, but all it did was pick up too much product from my face and leave a near blank space. Since then, I avoid using it.
👎🏻 It’s not as easy to clean as they say it is. I scrubbed it thoroughly and still wasn’t able to get it entirely clean (see photo 3).
I will have to admit, this is a special product that took all of the good from sponge and silicone products and made them into one really great makeup applicator. Is it something you can’t live without? No, but if you are wanting to use less product while still achieving a flawlessly blended finish, I would highly recommend you give it a try!
Did you see Tati’s review of the @thesupersponge? If yes, did it compel you to purchase it as well?
