Before this winter, my skin was never anything other than oily in the t-zone and normal everywhere else. Because of that, I would gravitate only toward matte foundations. This year, however, my skin is drier than it has ever been – especially on my forehead. So, I took it as a blessing and am now trying more dewy foundations (which I seem to prefer the look of on my skin anyway)! Today, I tested out the @tartecosmetics Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation ($39 for 1 ounce at @sephora).
What it claims:
🔘 A hypoallergenic, vegan foundation that delivers powerful pollution defense and weightless, buildable coverage that looks naturally flawless
🔘 Medium coverage
🔘 Natural finish
🔘 SPF 15
🔘 Free of mineral oil, sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, triclocarban and fragrance
🔘 Vegan, cruelty-free and gluten-free
🔘 I first applied it at 7am this morning. This photo was taken after over six (6) hours of wear.
👍🏻 I’m wearing the shade Light Neutral and it’s a very good match.
👍🏻👎🏻 It provided medium coverage right off the bat. I attempted to build it up over my cheek redness, but it only got to medium/high medium coverage.
👍🏻 It looked and still looks absolutely flawless on my nose and that’s my biggest problem area.
👍🏻 I still get a little oily in my t-zone throughout the day and expected this to make me quite shiny because it’s so hydrating. However, I haven’t blotted once because it has maintained it’s satin finish.
👍🏻 Another problem area for me are the lines in between my eyebrows. Most foundations tend to settle and cake up in there. This, however, has only done that very minimally. Likely not even visible to someone else.
👍🏻👎🏻 It has caked up minimally on the sides of my nose and in my chin crevice.
👎🏻 Although the shade range seems to have improved since I received this sample, it’s still not very inclusive.
I’m happy to say that I’m impressed! I will continue to use this sample to make sure my first impression is accurate, but if it continues to perform the way it did today, I could definitely see myself purchasing the full size!
